Handle a blocked file
Rescan, release, hold or dispose of a document that failed the virus scan or was quarantined.
Files that fail scanning, or that the scanner quarantines, cannot be previewed, downloaded or reviewed. This guide covers the four things you can do with them.
Before you start: you need document write access. Legal holds and disposal are owner or manager actions.
Find the file
Open Inbox › All invoices and choose the Blocked filter, or follow the cross-link from the Review list. Each row shows why it was blocked and when.
Request a rescan
Choose Request rescan when the block looks like a transient scanner problem. The file is queued again and returns to the normal flow if it passes.
Release a false positive
Choose Release when you are confident the file is safe, for example a PDF from a known supplier that a signature rule flagged. Give a reason. The release is recorded with your name, and the file continues to review.
Place or release a legal hold
Choose Legal hold when the file must be kept regardless of its state. Pick the reason: legal review, customer dispute, regulatory request or incident investigation. While a hold is active, disposal is disabled and the reason shows inline. Release the hold when the matter closes.
Dispose of the file
Choose Dispose to remove a file that should never have been uploaded. Disposal is disabled while a legal hold is active. The record of the upload and the disposal remains in the audit trail; the file content is removed.
