Organisations, outlets and workspaces

How one organisation holds many outlets, how people are scoped to outlets, how to switch your active outlet, save a default, and use workspaces.

ChowChirp is built for one organisation running several outlets from one login. This page explains the three ideas that make that work.

Organisation

Your company or group. It owns the suppliers, the stock catalogue, the recipes, the team and the money. A person can belong to several organisations with a different role in each, and can choose the organisation at login or from the Organisation choices in the Account menu. Changing organisation opens its remembered browser outlet, saved default or first permitted outlet.

Outlets

Each restaurant location. Stock balances, storage areas, cash sessions, rosters, safety units and licences belong to an outlet. People are assigned to one or more outlets, and their role applies only there. A manager assigned to Kampung Baru sees nothing of Bangsar unless assigned to it too.

The header shows your active outlet. Open your Account menu to see your organisations and the selected organisation’s outlets. The active choices are checked. When only one outlet is available, it remains visible and cannot be changed. Confirming a switch closes open edits and reloads the section overview. Other tabs ask you to reload before continuing.

Set your preferred outlet in Settings → Account preferences. Each organization has its own default. Saving it applies to subsequent sign-ins and does not move your current work. Explicit switches are remembered in this browser fordays, including after sign-out. Use saved default removes the browser override and activates your saved default.

Sign-in uses a permitted browser override, then a permitted saved default, then the first available outlet. A saved preference never grants access. If access changes, an unavailable preference is ignored. Support sessions and shared stations stay within their authorized outlet.

Finance operational lists, totals, exports and actions follow your active outlet. Organization accounts, budgets and statutory records retain their clearly labeled organization scope.

Workspaces

The Workspace selector in the sidebar reorders the navigation for a kind of work: Owner, Manager, Finance, Cashier, Kitchen, Server, Receiver, Prep, Installer and Support. It changes what you see first and hides what you would not use. It never grants or removes access. If a screen is missing, the reason is your role or outlet assignment, and the check is made on the server for every read and write.

Two chrome modes

Office screens (invoices, stock, finance, team) use the house chrome: sidebar, profile-menu organisation and outlet choices and the advisor rail. Station screens (counter, kitchen, shift) use a full-screen station chrome with no sidebar and no advisor, because those screens are shared devices unlocked per shift.

Transfers and consolidation

Stock transfers move balances between outlets with cost carried. The profit and loss view follows the active outlet; organisation and entity reports identify their broader scope. There is no inter-company elimination. Loss-prevention and safety records stay per outlet with group-level views for area managers.

Support and installers

Support sessions and installer assignments are separate, bounded contexts scoped to one outlet each. They never combine with a person's ordinary role, and they end on expiry, revocation or handover.
